Close to Launch

In a week and a half, the project begins in earnest. I'd feel nervous if anyone were reading this.

Thankfully, I've already downgraded my expectations. I've backed off my original threat to release a song a day. After an average week, I just realized there's no way in hell. And if I made a way-in-hell, the results would be pathetic.

I'm feeling out my limitations. Time is a big one. Then there's technology, with my laptop dying, and my week-long struggle to make the new laptop work with my music software. And then there's vocals. Ray Charles, I ain't. David Bowie, I ain't. In fact, people compare my voice to Leonard Cohen's, which doesn't please me much. Nothing against LC, but that's just not the way I want to sing.

So, I've been working on a song for the past week called "I'm Golden," which definitely features a gospel feel. And it's not going well, because of those limitations. The voice ain't great. The software suffers from latency, which means that I'm having a devil of a time synching up the vocals. Plus, there's the fact that I'm attempting four-part(-minimum) vocals.

Enough whining. Stuff will be posted soon. I have special plans for what #1 will be, and I haven't recorded a note of it.

Is this how the whole project is going to be? Talking about stuff I INTEND to do? How pathetic.
